Yes, they are Texas bluebonnets.  I mowed them three weeks ago so they are eight inches shorter than they should be.  You are all invited to stop by sometime.  :)

Blah... Lee's pictures are painful to look at!   Was 19 degrees here last night... supposed to be 19 again tomorrow night... Yeah, usually the temps are pushing mid 60's this time of year and i should have already been through my hives...

Awoke to snow at 3:30 am (thanks Nikky), kept snowing till about 10 am.  I had an appt at 12:30 and as I pulled out of the driveway, the sun was out, steam was coming up off the road as it melted away all the snow.
This weather is so bizarre......poor bees.
My Mom used to say a Spring snow was a “farmer’s fertilizer”. Where she came up with that saying, I have no clue but I hope there was a hint of truth to it.  My Mom was quite the character and had more colloquialisms and sayings than anyone I ever knew. I use some of them to this day and I get some weird looks from people.  Another gem of our culture that is disappearing.

Oh yeah...  I heard those all my life too.. silk purse and sows ear, no hill for a stepper, more than one way to skin a cat, etc, etc... dads fav saying usually came out when I walked in the house dripping blood.. wrecking my bike, losing a fight, wrecking motorcycle or snowmobile etc, etc...   First question... anything broken?
   No Sir.
Good. you'll survive then, If your going to be dumb, you gotta to be tuff.
And of course there was the...   I wish i had his (Car, Truck, Tractor, Girl) and he had a feather up his (behind), then we'd both be tickled!
sorry for getting yanked off in another direction.....  brought back some memories

Lazy, you cracked us up.  One of my Mom’s was “you’re busier than a cat covering s**t on a hot tin roof”.

ayup...   were supposed to get hit with the snow here Sunday...  bees were flying for the last four days, temps in the 60's and 70's... and... this weekend it is supposed to be 30 degrees or colder AGAIN. I am amazed I have any bees left alive. The GOOD thing is, those bees I do have left will be GOOD BEES!

it's been snowing here since friday, blizzard and whiteout conditions since friday evening until early this morning.  about 2 feet or more of snow. it tapered off a little late this morning, but still snowing.  we are fortunate, with the high winds and heavy snowfall, so far, no power outage!

finally stopped snowing here, and it is supposed to be in the 40's today, so it should all melt. Looks like next week were back to 60's so hopefully the weather will revert to normal and let my surviving bees get on with spring!
