I like the letter to the editor idea with photo, but my newspaper requires name and address to submit (although those are only published with your permission). Beyond that, i wouldn't worry about it. I've cut out bees that during the drought had all red honey in their hive in someone's house, from living on hummingbird feed, and I had that hive for 2 years, they were wonderful.
