I just have to share this one bit of good news from Corporate America. I am leaving for St Louis Sunday morning with a parent,12 and 14 year old boys who are Shriner hospital children to take to st Louis shrine hospital. Its a 6 to 7 hour drive. I always try to find things for the kids to do once we get there. Most generally all they see is the haven house where they stay and the hospital. Most Van drivers just want to get them there and get to the hotel to relax. Being a father of a shriners child I know how boring this can be. I asked the mother if there was anything they would like to do in st Louis. She said they haven't seen much and have been going to st Louis to the hospital since the boys was babies. But the one thing they had talked about doing was going to a St Louis Cardinals game. I got off the phone called a good friend who happens to be the president of GKN St Louis facility he lives here in town with his family and maintains a home in St Louis. Within an hour he had tickets for the game for the parent, 2 kids, myself, and my co-driver. Free of charge complete with a VIP parking pass for our van. He is also attending the game with us. He has set it up so these young kids can watch the game from the climate controlled GKN corporate Suite. With its own restroom, TVs, couches, recliners, and a wait staff. The only expense we will incur is the food or drinks we order. Since we wasn't a customer of GKN they couldn't comp us these items. Which is fine. These kids are ecstatic at what they are going to get. They agreed to leave 2 hours early to make sure we make it by game time. Should be a great time. Thank you GKN aerospace for providing an opportunity the kids will remember the rest of their life. And Hats off to Roger Emely for making it possible. Just when you thought you couldn't make the shrine organization any better someone ups the ante.
