What are you guys using for labels this year?  I have had to change suppliers and I am looking into a few options.

right now I'm printing my own on the inkjet.  Soon I hope to have actual stick on labels that are waterproof.

Hey Dunkel  :)  You might want to give Avery.com a look see. It's affordable, many choices including your own designs, you do print them on your own printer.

Same here Dunkel,

I use Avery design software and their labels right now. I print them as I need them. Not water proof though.

Yankee, I was wondering about that when I got my jar of honey. It looks like the brown paper sack label from Avery. I really like it!

Check out growersdiscountlabels.com. I just got my labels from them today. I am very impressed with the quality, the customer service is top notch and they have the best prices I've found, by far. I don't think I could have printed them myself for what they charged me.

Does anyone know if Amy of Amy's bee labels is still making labels. She did a great job and was very reasonable

I get my labels from Thornes ........ www.thorne.co.uk

I am using their design L.405 overprinted with my name and address. UK labeling regulations are different to US. If you are printing your own labels then a paper copy of the Thorne's catalogue may give you some ideas for motifs and designs.

a number of companies sell waterproof or weather proof paper to print on, you can use the avery design to print on these.  also, an inexpensive way to protect the label after you have printed it off on whatever paper you are using........go buy yourself a spray cannister of KRYLON crystal clear acrylic coating.  when you print your label/s on a full sheet, wait for the ink to dry and spray your sheet lightly with this stuff, give the sheet at least 2 coatings, but not more than 3, and allow to dry between sprays (dries quickly).  you can also do this for any handmade label of whatever paper stock you are using and spray the labels separately.  this stuff works great, it applies a clear protective coating, does not smear or smudge or discolor your label, and is very moisture resistant once applied.

River rat, Amy is no longer printing labels. I checked with her a few months ago.

To correct myself, I think she might have said she wasn't taking on any new customers.

It is the ink used in the printer as most are water soluble. Epson inks in the home inkjet printers are pigment bass inks and are better at resisting moisture than the dye bast inks most the other brands use. Lazar printer prints stand up well to moisture. The next step up is going to a commercial based printer that uses thermal, solvent based, or latex inks. these are expensive units and require constant use to keeping them running and keeping the heads from becoming clogged. Solvent based printers are stinky so require ventilation.

I just placed my first order for labels with Brushy Mtn.  I really liked their clear labels with black printing.  They were also available in white printing.   I toyed with making my own out of cardstock and printing them myself.  I would have used a hole punch and tied it on the bottle.  I decided I didn't have that kind of time. That would work well with glass bottles.  I would give someone a discount if they returned a glass bottle.  No fuss label removal.
