Ice Chest Hive is now full
« on: August 03, 2014, 02:25:31 pm »
They have now filled the ice chest. Gonna see if I can get them to move down into a deep and backfill the ice chest with fall honey for winter.

Nice They are doing well 6 frame nuc size this is so cool. I would have moved them as I'm from the old scool of being able to check for disease and being able to inspect the frames and manipulate the hive. and if the bees wuere going to build comb they nay as well be drawing out frames as apposed wild comb.

Pretty cool! You going to winter them in that too? Or pull the honey filled cooler when the time comes to extract?

Well,

I hope to get the queen to move down and stick an excluder on. Let the brood hatch out from Ice chest and let them fill it with goldenrod for winter. Then remove ice chest in spring and place a 2nd deep.

I lifted it a little this evening and looked inside and the frames looked like they were covered with bees. I need to get a smoker and see what is going on. Maybe put some pulled comb down there to get the queen down quicker.

I could rip ice chest open, but that would just be to easy. :) I want to see if I can get them to do what I want them to do.

Really? Your a brave man! Keep careful documentation. If it works with bees it MAY work with wives. Your about to be a VERY rich man selling your secrets!   ;D

Lol, Lazy.

Arn't you the one that suggested locking your wife up in a closet for a day, then letting her out and see what happens?

Its a LOT more fun to talk people into doing things I will not!   That way I get reminded why it is not a good idea without as much pain!   It all started with my mentor...   "Hey, go pull the board off that shed and see if the bees are under there...."

I was ten years old on my grandpa's farm when it happened
After all these years i can still hear grandpa laughin'
