Excellent interview Jim.
The printed version was a little off. "as much as 67 percent of the bees in Indiana died last winter, compared to around 50 percent during a normal winter."??
50% is normal for you guys?

Not sure about Indiana, but 15 to 20% loss is considered more normal here, and reported losses were 70% or so. It was a bad winter. I am looking forward to next spring to see the difference in losses between local/feral and Carniolan crosses compared to the package bees with Italian queens and or their daughters on the ones that were superseded.

This past spring, our bee association members reported a 50% loss.

Perry, I would say "my" normal loss has been about a third of all my bees except for this past winter.

Awesome video Jim. I have had the same issue here in SC. Last year was particularly difficult.
