Mentors rock!
« on: August 15, 2014, 05:57:36 pm »
So my mentor called me up and told me he had something for me, and also wanted to see my new truck, so I told him I'd stop after work today.
This is what was waiting for me  ;D

He told me he didn't have room for it (lie) and asked if I could keep it for him on a permanent basis.

I asked about cost and he told me if I gave him my second quart of honey (because I should get to keep my first) he'd call it even.

Let's just say a deal was struck!   ;D ;D ;D

It's a Dadant 12 frame radial!
Great score!

Let me know if you need the manual, I sent away and got the manual for the 20 and the 12 came with it. I love my 20, and the 12 is virtually the same thing!

I can scan and pm it to you.

Congrats!

Jen, As tempting as that is...

Rod - you have no idea.  He was unable to keep this year due to various personal issues, and tells me every time we talk how happy he is someone is taking up the reins.

I am fortunate, he has been extremely generous with his equipment, and more importantly his time and knowledge.

Sounds like one of those people you think about often and help out every opportunity you get!  Then make sure he has a lifetime supply of honey.
I am excited for you Zweef!  Great deal that just saved you a goodly stack of money!

I am interpreting the deal as not just for this second quart, but every time i extract...
Pretty sure thats not what he meant, but that will be his problem  ;D Trust me, he will not run out  :)

zweef......
mentors do rock, especially yours, he has a great big heart and sees something in you as a keeper of bees; an extractor, a sieve and a hot knife, just very cool!  equipment you didn't have to purchase, and he gifted you!  it doesn't get any better! and to have a great mentor as he is!
.......what an awesome gift! and also, it probably brings him great joy as well!

I hope he got a ride in your new truck!  :)

That is wonderful that he would give that to you.  I love my radial extractor and I know you will.  That should last a lifetime.  Congrats!

Great extractor to inherent that will make extracting easier and will service you well to fifty + hives. Great mentor you have helping you out.
