« on: August 16, 2014, 11:37:45 pm »
Pretty good day today.

We harvested about 408 pounds, Our first Cotton Blossom Honey. Very light. I thought it was very good. No strong taste at all.t to righ

Here is what I have for now.

Left to right.

Cotton Blossom, Summer Wildflower,  Honeysuckle Bee Yard.

Looks like I'll have about 10 frames of Comb Honey to offer as well.

Wonderful looking honey and honey comb. the different colors of honey are fabulous.
Looking at the 3 jars of honey were the filled by weight? The level of fill is different on all three jars. This is one of the things that are considered when judging honey. When a customer comes to buy honey we want to avoid having them pawing through all the jars looking for the fullest jar. The same is true for comb honey sections also, some price them by weight because it is so hard to get them all the same size. If you ever put honey in a honey show for judging the level of fill on all jars should be the same and also the fill level on the jars should be high enough that there is not a gap between the top of the honey and the bottom of the cap lid, even if it means putting a little more than the 1lb of honey in the jar.

Apis,

the levels were the same before we started testing them tonight :)

this was my result from last fall county far. Followed your advice. Think I'll give it another try this year also.

Nice treasure of honey there. The medium color there in the center has almost a rosey color to it. I sure each computer has a different value in color, but it looks rosey on mine.

Cotton Blossom Honey, a perfect name for that honey. Honeysuckle Hives and Cotton Blossom Honey, just down right poetic!

That's right Jen. Honey Suckle Hives, not Bee yard. Tha sounds better. I'll change it. I thought it was something else.

Thanks,

I just need to make sure they don'y think I am calling this Honeysuckle Honey.

They all look great!  The only cotton honey I can get around here is creamed.  Not that I don't love the creamed honey too, that just all the area honey farm offers.

It's not just honey It is also cooking with honey. Loafs made with honey, Muffins made with honey, Cookies made with honey, Jams and Jellys, and Preserves canned with honey. But my favorites are creamed honey if done well and preserves.
