I have been using the Pierco black foundation with very good results.  I have an opportunity to get some black Rite Cell foundation reasonable.  Is there anyone who has used both of these types and can give me an opinion.

I have a few wax coloured Rite-Cell (I think) and the bees were slow on it.
I use black Permadent, but was sent black Pierco during a supply issue, and I have to say the Pierco was heavier and had way more beeswax coating on it. Bees loved it.

I use bees wax foundation and have never had an issue with it. :laugh: :laugh: Jack

That's just Jack, he never misses a chance to lay in a shot about his fussy, snooty bees, that can't figure out how to do an honest days work without being pampered.  ;) :D
I believe Rite Cell's claim is that their cell patterns are deeper and sharper, making it easier for the bees to draw out. I wasn't even aware they made it in black.

Yep, did a little research.  Just cause they claim it don't make it true.  That's why I'm asking......

I have used it for brood nests and like it.  Rite-cell is always my first choice -downside is that plastic foundation is expensive.  If you don't buy it, PM me with the particulars....If it works out I'm very interested.  Advantage of the black is the ease of seeing eggs.  You can scrape the wax comb off ritecell and still graft larva,they will be unscathed. Its deep.  Did I say it was my first choice?   ;)

It takes a lot of feeding or a honey flow to get bees to draw it out.  Make sure its wax coated, pass if its not wax coated.

I have the black pierco in brood and honey supers.  Like it very much. Quite easy to see eggs.  I appreciate the input.  Haven't gotten into queen work.  Not sure I could do the grafting or desire to try.  Been reading up on the OTS plan. 
If I don't take it there is another person (waiting for my decision) who will take it.
