Cop and His K-9 Hospitalized By Yellow Jackets

THANKFUL FOR FAITHFUL DOGS!

I appreciated this article today about a Cop and his K-9 friend who were stung by bees and had to be hospitalized. It's not about honey bees but for any my beekeeper friends that have dogs.  You'll appreciate this. Keep Your Dogs Safe!

This may be more for readers than you, but in NC and many other states, it is against the law to remove a yellow jacket or hornet nest for pay if you aren't a licensed pest control.

Nice story, and a great looking dog!
The guy who owns the mill that I get all my pine from has a pure black shepherd that is one of the nicest dogs I've seen in a while. She`s two years old and follows him around where ever he goes at the mill. I told him if she ever had pups I'd be interested. He just borrowed a male for a couple of weeks as she came into her second heat. Time will tell.

Grizz looks like quite a character!
I am a co-captain of our Neighborhood Watch Program.  A few years ago, the other co-captain and I realized that we were losing our local K-9 Unit.  The unit commander, and his dog, were retiring.  Another K-9 was being retired due to age, etc.  Because of a series of events, they were being phased out and not replaced.  My neighbor and I started a fund raising campaign, with the police dept. permission, to purchase a K-9.  Well, we raised enough for 1 1/2 dogs.  The money for the other half of dog suddenly appeared and we had two dogs.  The K-9 unit is back today in full force.  I have to smile every time I see one of those dogs riding around on duty.
If the weather isn't too hot, the K-9 unit will do a demonstration for the public.  People just love watching them.

Understood. The problem is a Catch 22 situation. Most pest control companies aren't set up to handle stinging insects. I actually get calls from them believe it or not. I don't actually get paid so to speak it more of donation for my starving family. ;-)
