I love the combination of cheese and honey. Not sure what water crackers are?

I agree, it's my favorite combination! Water crackers are baked using only flour and water, without shortening or other fats usually used in biscuit production. They are thin, hard and brittle, and usually served with cheese or wine.

Thanks! I'll look for them in the store, but I would guess that there are other simple crackers that would work as well. Are the water crackers salted?

Oh absolutely! I just worked in a fancy restaurant and that's what they served them on... I personally haven't found anything else I like equally or more.. Mine aren't salted they are just plain. There can also be some herb flavored ones or sea sesame seed, poppy seed etc. but I think that takes away from the cheese and honey flavor.

I've been buying some gluten free crackers that are just plain, they're just like Premium soda crackers except without salt. Those ought to work out fine. Now ya got me going to the store tomorrow to buy goat cheese, I have plenty of honey LOL

This was the first appetizer I made when I harvested my first honey this summer.  I made it for a couple's engagement party and it was a huge hit.  I sprinkled sunflower seeds over the cheese before drizzling the honey over it.  Yummy!

Without the salt you'll be missing a lot of the flavor.

In our wee town of only 2,000 people, we have a very nice deli soup and sandwich eatery.  They make pastries and among other items, water crackers.  I keep some for snacks, so I will gather up some goat cheese and try it.  In fact, my old Mexican lady friend makes  goat cheese, so I will have some home made goat cheese.  She also makes the best tamales in the world.
