We did indeed shoo it into a box and released it in a woody area north of our house. A creek also runs through that area (probably why it's not farmed!) so the owlet would have access to water. Obviously, my hope is that it survived, however there are LOTS of coyotes in the area. I do hear owls from time to time in the early morning while having my coffee and a smoke in the woodshed so, who knows? Interesting that it stood about 18/20 inches tall but had talons as big as my hand! Not that I have huge hands, but, you know what I mean. When we first saw it, it was on it's back, talons up, with the dogs barking and looking for an opening. I think the owl would have done some damage before the end. The whole episode was quite memorable. Ted
