Hopefully he will. Right now he has apple cider vinegar with the "mother" in his waterer.  Not sure how the blend will go?

ACV is good for all creatures, including bees.

Not to change the subject, but when i was growing up it was a common thing to see dogs with the mange(sp? was wondering if that wasn't a form of cancer, never see or hear of it anymore? I think dad would treat it with motor oil. Jack

You see mange in coyotes around here pretty often

Good one Iddee!  I actually was thinking about the difficulty of that too.

Mange is bugs, those coyotes don't have anyone to treat them..  Any volunteers?

People would dump there dogs with the mange out in the country, dad would shoot them because he didn't want them around our tree dogs, and they would pack up and chase cattle and kill calves. He said he done them a favor, because the mange would kill them or they would starve to death. I still get free dogs once in a while >:(, but my bird dog usually runs them off. Jack

I got a free full blooded greyhound this past weekend, people dump dogs here, but don't see mange all that often. this one appeared to be in perfect health except arthritis but may have had heartworms. A rescue picked her up this morning.  I generally get them caught and out of here, with a neighbor but every once in awhile one needs shot.

I can't hardly kill a dog unless he's aggressive, then he's toast. Jack

the one that got shot attacked my dogs when we were walking, twice, and a day or 2 later attacked an elderly labrador.  The lab's owner caused a disappearing.  No fences out here, animal control can't catch them.

btw Jen I checked on your tea, if you want more relief go to a turmeric paste made with coconut oil and freshly ground black pepper.  A lot of what is active in turmeric is not water soluble.

only water soluble compounds will be absorbed and not the important oil soluble components: curcumin, turmerol, carotenoids, Vitamin A,D, E and K etc etc

We treat the local coyote population for mange every chance we get..  I use the turtle gun, works wonders!

I am often amazed by what other people do for their dogs, and then humbled when I realize what we are doing for our own...
We have a doberman thats ten, she came down with diabetes about three years ago, and from that moment, I have gotten up EVERY morning to give her the insulin. I have been here every evening to give he the insulin..  we cant go anywhere that we cannot take her with us..   She is blind now, due to the diabetes I am told. She also has mutliple lumps and one mass under her chest I am worried about..   BUT, she is HAPPY, playful in the extreme, and LOVES to go for walks with her human mom..  Rides are not her favorite thing anymore, but she does ride with her nose out the window, and will still bark if she smells something, or her daughter begins to bark...   Her daughter is my dog, delivered with my own two hands, she has never know another master..  She does not have diabetes at this point and is doing well, with the exception of having blown out a hip catching a rabbit.. Yes, she DID catch it, and brought it back limping.. it was the last one she managed to catch on her own..  now we squirrel hunt together. I shoot the squirrel out of the tree, she fetches it and brings it to me...  Even just doing that she often cannot get out of her chair the next day without aid.. She is eight now and my best friend and constant companion...
How much are you willing to do for a friend that you love? How much will you spend?

I have found through the years, that there is no limit to what I will give up if I have it at the time, be it money, or time.
I have carried a Springer over 3 miles, leaving my gun in the woods when she fell off a small cliff. I have dug graves by hand, I have emptied my bank account, and borrowed more. My house has become a sort of prison having a diabetic dog..  I do not regret it, I will continue until she is no longer happy, and then take her for one last ride.
I would like to say these will be our last indoor dogs..  Perhaps I will let my wife have the cats she wants..  It dos not break my heart NEARLY as much when a cat dies..

There are limits in my budget which is a one income household with full expenses of such.

But I have turned down the daughter's dinner and drinks invite for the 13th in favor of seeing the grandkids at a short lunch so I can be home for Bronx's morning and evening medicine. I love my dogs. I have spent way more than my exhusband would ever have permitted. Which is why he became an ex and the dogs came with me.  I do have cats.  I am slightly allergic to cats.  I am deathly allergic to dogs if my allergies flare.  I had my dog in the house til the allergies hit at age 14, an indoor and well bathed chihuahua in my 20's and my next dog to live in the house came in at 49, Spike, the gsd/border collie. I spent a lot of time outdoors with my big fuzzy Bandit who could never live indoors, called my daughter to help me lift him in when he was dying, sat with him as he died, and we buried him in a special spot the next day. I won't have another long haired dog.  I enjoy having them indoors.

I die a little when I lose one. I picked up a death row mini-aussie in October, 36 lbs (70 lbs lighter than Bronx) so Bronx can help train him.

I spend what I can, I love them a lot and do all I can for them. So glad Bronx is feeling better.  The Aussie, Woodstock. barks and barks at him to try to get him to play. Bronx is sitting with his nose in the air, he heard my truck pull in and knows I"m home, waiting for the door to open.

I love dogs! I am in the process of helping my daughter find the 'just right' dog for her family. That means the shelter in our town is the place to go. So I went to the shelter today because they have 10 new small dogs in. I was sitting in the cold gravel with four of them today playing and observing them. Will prob follow the Rescue Ranch on their way up to my daughter house which is 1 1/2 hours away, in hopes that one of them will work out. It's more than heart warming how this Rescue Ranch goes the extra 90 miles to see to it that their dogs go to loving homes. I may just volunteer there.... hmmm

Thanks Gypsi... it's hard to not take them all home...  ;)

Yes! it's been raining for a couple of days. It's a wonderful temperature right now where I can keep the front door open and the fire going. Love days like that  :)

Good for you.  Don't take them all home, they won't fit.  I fostered 3 or 4 this year that moved on to adoptive homes or rescues or other fosters.  Adopted 1. (well adopted 2 but the first one I spent a fortune on and after 4 days he went to a rescue that could afford a psychiatrist for his separation issues)

I remember that dog Gypsi, pat on the back for giving him a try. A couple of visits ago to our Rescue Ranch, a mom and young son brought back a large dog in a large crate, the dog literally chewed and tore through the plastic crate, blood everywhere. Good Gravy! Mom stood there staring at the owner of Rescue Ranch and said "Yeeeeeah! This Is Not Going To Work!" and walked out.

A dog that has been fostered in a home, crate trained and medical issues straightened out is a super candidate for rescue. None of mine had that, but Camelo and Cici were owner surrenders and at least house trained, and most pounds will sort out the separation anxiety dogs.

The pound I got that big dog from spoiled him, when he whined they let him hang out in the front office, for weeks.  So no clue that he had any issues.  I have a couple of favorite pounds to adopt from based on health and responsible sorting of dogs
