Don't Forget Your Tennies............
« on: December 02, 2014, 06:41:05 pm »
story is, i was cleaning out my gym bag, and throwing new stuff in this morning to go to the gym this afternoon.....

i spyed two older juvenile delinquents at my city suburb res driving up and down the street real slow, hunched down, baseball hats on cockeyed and the passenger had a pair of binoculars. i am quite sure their pants were sagging low down past their unders. as they drove real slow past houses, the passenger JD would scan a house with the binocs......

seriously felony stupidty.  about the 4th time past my house, i grabbed the phone, and a digital camera, set it to continuous shots, walked out to the end of the driveway, dialed the coppers, and waited for the jd's to come back a 5th time. they sure did. as they approached my house, i let loose on the camera, taking shots of the plate, the vehicle and their faces.  should have seen them look at me.  i motioned to roll the window down, but they hunched down further and just kept driving real slow past me.......they were stopped at the end of my block by two squad cars, and a third one from behind them.  they had been real busy that morning before they hit my street.

the rest of the story.........
i grabbed my gym bag when i went to the gym.  do not forget to throw your tennies back in the gym bag otherwise YOU WILL be wearing your winter boots that you wore to get there, that look something like this:

and yes i did, these are my winter boots, mine are more beat up  ;D
and i only tie up to and around above my ankle......easy on easy off. so, today i was fashionable, i was wearing a cutoff sweatshirt, shorts, and my purty irish setter elk hunter boots.......... a lot of looks and a lot of comments...... :D

lifting free weights no problem BUT hard to ride a bike or 'travel' on a tread mill...........but they got the job done............... :D
i think i worked harder today, i don't need to go back tomorrow.......... :D :D :D

Nice police work there, Riverbee!  I hope you let your neighbors know what happened.  It must have been an early start on the old Let's go see what's under their Christmas Tree season.
Seriously, in this post Treyvon Martin era, I would caution you about approaching suspicious characters.  This fall, quite near where I work, 3 older people were shot and killed plus two others injured.  A stranger was in their neighborhood scouting out a home where a very valuable car was kept. At least one of these victims simply came out on their porches to see what was going on.

In my own neighborhood a few years back, my neighbor called police on a group of Latino kids.  The next morning every house on the block had been tagged with Latino gang graffiti.  We were spared.  Maybe it was due to the Catholic statuary in the front yard?  After that I added to the collection with an Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Patrick! (Covering all the ethnic groups!)

Bakersdozen makes a good point.  I live in a place where there are a lot of guns around, I've seen gang and gun activity not too far from here, called the cops and the activity diminished, the kids grew up and moved away.  There isn't much to steal out here and most of us shoot first and call the cops 2nd so not much trouble, but it does merit caution and not walking close to suspicious cars.  I do call the cops and report a suspicious vehicle if I see one parked in the wrong place but I do not walk up, take their photo or try to get a plate anymore

:yah:  hahahah!  Very true!  Well done, and a video of you running on the treadmill in boots for proof!!!

Had kids down the road trying out their new guns, or daddys guns, shooting at the curve sign..  Myself, and my neighbor both pulled up within moments, and as we were getting out of our trucks, the neighbor from the other direction pulled up..  None of us were armed, and the kids were. They got a little chewing, actually a lot from the furthest neighbor, since aiming at the sign wasnt far off from being aimed at his house..  I looked over their guns, asked them some questions, gave them some advice, and told them in no uncertain terms that they needed to keep shooting, but that they needed to do it at targets in a safe direction..  I gave them half a dozen targets and a roll of bandaids for their targets (masking tape) and pointed them down the road to my property near the railroad tracks..
I've heard them down there twice since, and went to check after they left to insure they didnt leave a mess.
I enjoy living in an area like this. None of us were worried that they were delinquents, though shooting the sign wasnt too smart, I cant deny my own indiscretions when I was young and dumb..  ok, when i was dumb...

Your place sounded so wonderful Lazy I went pricing land in Texas. But my enthusiasm just isn't there.   I grew up in an America like where you live, and I have lived most of my adult life in Dallas Fort Worth because there was work here and I do know how to fire a gun, hit a target, call 911, and I used to run around writing down license plate numbers.  anywhere that is rural enough and with decent land prices I can't run the business from, it is too far.

bakers (gypsi too), i hear what you are saying. and you are not a 'debbie downer'.  i 'sized' these 2 boys up a little, and i figured they were not too bright, but being not to bright doesn't mean there might not be a gun in the vehicle, i took a chance. all they had in the vehicle was a hammer and a couple screwdrivers  to break the bottom locks off of doors, and nothing to break the dead bolts.   it's kind of what we have been seeing and getting around here occasionally, and ransacking of unlocked vehicles.  no breaking of windows, whether vehicle or house.

i did let my neighbors know, i printed a little one page flyer with pics of their faces, the vehicle and the plate, and passed it around.  turns out, one of the neighbors up the street, her teenage kids saw these two knuckleheads about a month and a half ago, doing the same thing, and the oldest girl called the pd.  turns out, these JD's have been responsible for a number of break in's in my area since summer months.

lol! no video scott, but some of the guys in the gym took photos, well maybe video, mostly from my knees down i think?!  i am sure it's on someones facebook page!.......LOL!!!!  to tell ya the truth, ya really don't run very well on a tread mill wearing these boots............. and i have taken quite a bit of ribbing since!

a few days ago, i saw a lady in my gym (i do see her frequently) wearing this shirt..........gotta get me one of these..........LOL!!!:

then yesterday recieved my WWB t shirt!  i wore it to the gym today.........and received a number of questions and inquires about bees, i think i spent more time yakking about bees than i did working out, but you know what............. pretty cool!!!

I have noted that any kind of shirt that mentions bees will start some conversations and make it hard to get much work done.  But I wear them anyway!

I am looking forward to meetings and assisting Tim with handing out packages while wearing my WWB Shirts..  Great looking shirts that get attention.. not.. that my rounded out form needs any extra attention right now...  but, going up Monday to talk to the fellow that runs the local weight room and see about signing on so I dont KEEP gaining weight..  I'll have to try the boots on the treadmill..  Most comfortable footwear I have so it cant be ALL bad can it?     :o

Hard trying to keep the weight off this time of year.. then thru out the winter. And I am a night time snacker. I had to stop buying ice cream, make it more of a treat once in awhile.

Gyms, tried them three times, just can't work an eliptical machine or treadmill and stare at a blank wall for 30 minutes. Makes me nuts.

So I try to take walks around the neighborhood, and pare down the night snacks. But still... definately feel like I'm losing a slow battle

When I am in our De Leon home, which is most of the time, I put on my sweat pants and a pull over, short sleeved shirt.  If it's really cold, barely freezing, I put on a T-Shirt under my pull over shirt, and then drive to the Wellness Center (gym).  I can park within 50 feet of the front door, so I don't need to wear anything but tennis shoes, or maybe a soft pair of slip on shoes as I only ride a stationary bike, elliptical trainer and do some upper body machines.  Oh yes, on the two or three days a year where there is an inch of three of snow I drive more carefully.  :):)  I could add that I feel sorry for you cold weather freaks, but it's your choice so I won't add that.  :):)

lol scott!  do you have a pair of tennies?  you will be doing a lot of klunking.......  video please!

when it's above 30-35 degrees and no wind, i will walk outdoors, 3 to five miles, and if sidewalks, roadways are relatively ice free, or snowshoe if enough snow. i do have a pair of yak trax i slip on my winter tennies to walk outdoors with so i don't slip and fall on my kiester.  my gym has a one mile track, so i prefer to walk the track rather than use a treadmill, and switch off to a bike, then back to the track, or maybe some weights.  i like to listen to podcasts, this keeps my mind occupied, and not thinking about going around a track 20 or 30 times to get 2 or 3 miles in.   ;D
