Beeswax Lotion Bars
« on: December 05, 2014, 11:04:01 pm »
Daughter and I are trying some Beeswax Lotion Bars. All natural, no alcohol or petroleum products.

Going to put them in a round metal tin with lid. Have sold 50 in a day.

Jen,

Not soap. Its a bar of lotion. Just rub it in your hands, elbow's etc. Then just keep in the tin and take out when you need it. Kinda like a chapstick
for your hands. Its work great.

You can get the glucos at Hobby Lobby. I got mine at a bakeing supply store locally.

We used

1/3 beeswax
1/3 Organic Coconut oil
1/3 Grape seed oil

You can use shea butter, cocoa butter.
Gonna try some with avocado oil, or sunflower oil when out of Grape seed oil.

Melted that all together then removed from heat. Add vitamin e oil and Lavender essential you oil (or your choice fragrance) and pour into molds.

I think it helps if one of the oils is a solid type, coconut, shea etc.

My son and his girl friend were just over and I tossed her one and she went crazy over it.

Value-added, that's where the smart money can be made. Good one Yankee, I may have to "borrow" that one!

There were a lot of people buying these Beeswax Lotion Bars at the show today. Only 1 booth had them. She used Cocoa Butter, Sweet Almond Oil and beeswax.

Poured into a square plastic box. 2oz for 7.00 She had all different fragrances. I bought one just to compare. She said they sell great.

This sounds like something I would like to do  :)  I don't have any beeswax this year tho. Hmm, I may check with other beeks in the area.

Yankee, do you know what the purpose of the grape seed oil is? I have used grape seed oil in my lotion recipe before, it tastes very bitter...

I'm a lotion maker, and avocado oil is soooo good for the skin :D and don't forget olive oil, it's full of fatty acids and lots of nutrition for the skin same as avocado.

Mkay, so your next batch will be the three.. avacado, shea, and beeswax?

Vitamin e is a good preservative, I put that in my lotion as well.

Have ya tried putting a bit of honey in this bar recipe?

Okay. A tidbit: you can buy food grade honey 'scented' oils for candy making, lotions nsuch. Just letting you know that if you put raw honey in yours it would be nice if the label stated that it contains raw honey, or pure honey... how ever you want

I'm going to try this lotion bar down the road, I just have to find some natural bees wax from my area ~

I make these all the time!  I use them and give them out.  Never thought I could make to sell!

Here is a good list of oils, waxes, etc that will/ will not clog pores.  So, if anyone ask you know the answer!
