Crazy idea?
« on: December 08, 2014, 08:12:20 am »
Is this a crazy idea or what?
Check out this ad. I was thinking this would be good around the hives in my outyards. No mowing, etc.

I would be grabbing a roll or two, at least, just to satisfy the hoarding instinct if nothing else.

sounds like a great idea.  should last longer than plywood or tar paper would.   Worse case you will only need to "trim" the weeds that grow through the cracks between rolls.

Go for it, get there before others do first know I would try.

I'm with Iddee, the gatherer in me wouldn't allow me not to take advantage of the offer.
I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

I use old sheets of barn tin with concrete blocks on top of it for my hives, i don;t see why that turf wouldn't work as good to keep the weeds down. The only draw back i have is the mice like to build nest under the tin and they would probably like the turf also. ;) Jack

I think that stuff looks cool! I would definitely get a few rolls!

3.7 feet wide, 97 feet long to a roll. $30 fee to load it as each roll weighs 1,000 lbs.

You should try selling some of it to a garden supply shoppe. Make a nice ground cloth to keep the weeds away.

If that's 30.00 to load however many rolls you want, I would pay it. If that's 30.00 per roll, I would tell him the grass would be greener on the other side of his skin, and how to get it there.

As soon as I found out about the $30 I stopped pursuing it.

I'm almost embarassed to say it, but if it were easily accessible for me, I would go for it.  A lot of my neighbors have covered their lawns with artificial grass.  It saves a lot of watering during our long, hot, dry, summer months,  not to mention saving a lot of time and money spent on frequent lawn mowing.

That's what I was thinking.  How would you move it?  Even if they loaded it for you, how would you get it off your truck?  Push it off on level ground?
