My first swarm
« on: December 24, 2013, 09:14:09 pm »
Couldn't get much luckier than this.  Local honey farm told me to put swarm box's out since he said I was in the middle of many blueberry farms that he put hives at.  Built this out of a broken small super.  Put out on a tree stand on a thursday and friday it had good 2 lbs of bees inhabiting it.  Sure hope that luck continues this spring.  I've got 4 box's ready to go out.

After one week in their new home.

Looks like a good deer stand in the fall and bee trap in the spring.
Bees are bees and do as they please!

Yep, the other tree stands will be equipped the same this year.  No sense them not doing anything in the off season.

Pics like that are great, especially at this time of year.  ;D

Awesome, great job and thanks for posting it.  I plan on putting out some at previous spots where I have captured swarms next season.
