Hey There from East Texas
« on: December 19, 2014, 04:13:17 pm »
I am new to the forum and a new soon to be beekeeper.  I have been researching beekeeping for the last year and have finally ordered my first hive boxes and have made contact with a beekeeper that will have Nucs this spring.  Over the next few months I plan on getting the hives together and in place and round up any other equipment that I might need.

Hey RLTS  :welcome:
Glad you found us.
This is the perfect time of year to start your beekeeping journey, and securing your bees is a huge first (and smart) step!
Ask plenty of questions if you have them, it keeps some of us on our toes. I would say look up some of our members from Texas, but I do realize that covers an awful lot of ground. If you are lucky enough to be near one, a mentor is worth their weight in gold.

Welcome from north Texas. I can assure you, you will learn a lot from the experience on this board. I was new last year and could not have done it without this board.

Welcome to the WWB a great place to ask questions and share ideas and experience.
In the fall of 2009 I started doing what you are doing now, reading about bees and beekeeping, ordered three nucs for the spring of 2010.
That winter built all the equipment I needed, and some more :)
Hard to believe I am going into my sixth season. It is a world of magic. Hope you like it here

Greetings on joining the WWB forum.  I hope you find the time to do a lot of bee reading before your equipment and bees arrive.  You can never be too prepared for this "hobby".  You will never cease to be surprised by bees, no matter how much you read about them or how long you actually deal with them.  They have a million surprises stuffed in their pollen baskets. A good foundation from the literature will go a long way in getting you started.

Welcome aboard RLTS!  I relate to East Texas, as I went through high school in Athens.  It's beautiful country.  I moved to West Texas because i'm allergic to rain.  :):):)  You're in a good bee environment.  Have fun with your bees and post often.
