Just goes to show how much I keep up with the news. That ended less than a half mile from my house. I knew nothing about it until this post. Yep, we've got a few crazies here, like everywhere else.

Perry, what avatar?

PERRY, PERRY, PERRY

You know I can't post a pic of myself as an avatar. The lady members would be throwing rocks at your avatar and breaking their computers.

It's SO very irritating when somebody just rides your bumper.  I used to speed up when somebody did that to me, but not anymore.  After trying to appease a tailgater some years ago in the snow, I ended up doing a 180 in the middle of the road, careening across on coming traffic and flying backwards into a snow bank…reminiscent of Chevy Chase in those Vacation movies  ;D

Recently I've learned that the cops around here will ride your bumper to try to get you to speed up and hence break the law.  I got pulled over about 2am this summer by a cop that was about to drive right over top of my car!  I couldn't believe ANYBODY would drive that close to another car; it was dark so I couldn't tell who it was.  I refused to speed up....and after a while the ole flashing lights came on behind me  :D

Then there's the times I'm moving my bees around.  I've got a bumpy trailer so I go real slow.  As expected, people will come right up and ride my bumper.....until they see I'm pulling BEES!  Then they back off, or pass, in a hurry  :D

I guess it's yin and yang.  She offsets The King (no, not Elvis, the other one, #43).

Speaking of mishaps, if this link works, you can hear a story of road rage gone awry.  I've heard it many times and laugh so hard I cry to this day it's so funny.

if you can't hear the recording, just google, "car wreck mother goose pepper spray"   :D  :)

It's SO very irritating when somebody just rides your bumper.

Not me.  Ever since I sold my little car and got a 4-wheel drive pickup and the gas mileage dropped 1/3, I go at or below the speed limit always.  If some tailgates me, I just slow down.  I'll stop and let them pass if I have to.  I do vehicles with bright lights the same way.

When I drove over-the-road in an 18-wheeler, I saw more wrecks and stupid drivers than a person should ever see.  I'll never hurry now (unless it's to get my wife to the hospital).

Any vehicle safety course addresses tail gaiting.  A general rule of thumb is to stay one car length behind the vehicle in front of you for every ten mph that you are driving.  At 60 mph, one should be about 120 feet behind the car in front of you.

Like the above posters, I don't let tail gaiters push me beyond my chosen speed.  I pull over and give them room to pass at the first safe opportunity.

How do you like the ones that come up behind you flashing their lights when you are going the speed limit, or very close to it?

Hand brakes don't turn on your brake lights. They usually back off quick when you use it once or twice.

What Iddee said!
I once had a pretty nice 86 Chevy short bed 4x4..   I hit the brakes about three times trying to get a lady off my behind, then I just hit the brakes and held them..  her insurance bought me a nice used 89 chevy, I kept the 86 and fixed it as well. No damage another used bed wouldnt straighten out.   Sold that, kept the 89, made out very well. So well, that  I really look forward to tailgaters..
The county police came REALLY close to doing the same thing when they were tailgating me..   He managed to get stopped, barely, and was sort of wild eyed when I got out of my truck to yell at him..
He asked if I realized I was yelling at a police officer, I told him yeah, I did, I expected OTHER people to be idiots, not the police..    He got out of his car.. he stood about 6'1" looking down at me, then he shook my hand and told me not to push my luck any further and he wouldnt tailgate me again.
