What’s the bee keepers preference in a shower remodel?  Would you want a seat in your shower or not?

LOL, well, i don't fiddly fart when i shower logical, so i don't really sit when i shower......but it does have an advantage so i can shave my legs........... :D

i have taken advantage of the sitting thing when traveling, you can sit down, use someone else's hot water after a long tiring day and enjoy........

also, maybe a good shelf ?..........

if and when we remodel, coming soon... we would probably put one in......... 8)

Rrat - This beeks bathes every night, but showers once in awhile.

Logic- I think a seat is a great idea! Also I like Riverbee's shelf idea. And not a small corner shelf, I'm talking a good size shelf that holds everything up and out of the way from children. Razors, shampoo, conditioner. Or, two shelves on on each corner.

Now are you talking a stand up shower? or a seat in a tub/shower?

heheh  good answers..  RRat I think that was SHAVE not bathe? just a guess :P

    When we built this house, I made a concrete shower for two. Two shower heads, and a glass door for those times I didnt feel like getting wet but wanted to watch!!    ;D
   Uhem.. but, no seat, so I bought a  sturdy plastic chair at a yard sale. She likes to put her foot on it when shaving her legs..  OH, thats usually a good time to watch...

Let me get this right...You put a plastic chair.... in a beautiful concrete shower built for two?!?!....

And then you put a glass door so you could watch?!?! The Glass Door Would Be All Fogged Up For Cryin' Out Loud!

I stand when I shower, always, period, but my bride who only showers when she washes her hair or shave her legs loves the corner seat in our shower.  It's a nice thing for women.

Fiddling and farting in a shower????? 

To Jack:

We call someone that farts in the bathtub and bites the bubbles a "snorf."  Did you know that.

I don't think I've ever taken a shower in a stall with a seat so I didn't know how useful the seat might be.  I decided to go with a built in seat on this shower remodel.  I would love to build a custom tile shower, but just don't have the time on this job.  This one is just going to be one of the 2 piece slick fiberglass jobbies; 48" x 34".

okay, my apologies to logical for a comment i made that seems to have sidetracked the thread a little?  :P

i just meant i don't spend a lot of time in the shower.  i think a seat in the shower logical is a great addition, and not a plastic chair like scott did.  :D
the shelf, the seat can be the shelf, but a separate shelf is very nice too.

I don't know if you are of that "certain age", but some mature folks consider their golden years when planning a bathroom update.  Things like taller toilet seats, grab bars and seats in showers are some of the things they consider.  Just putting that out there.   ;)

Agreed Baker...  Not only that but one can suffer an exhausting illness, or accident, at any age and need to sit in a shower ~

Since I build showers for a living, I thought I'd chime in.   Every "seat" I've ever put in is for leg shaving, not actually sitting.    Typically I do 3 granite corner shelves, with the 1st one at 18" for a step.  Perhaps the only exception is big bench in the last picture, which was for a doctor who said he'd be doing autopsies in there.

We made shelves in the walls and a bench in the corner.  "She, who must be obeyed" wanted it that way....Was an easy thing to make her happy. This is our guest shower.   :)

I kind of figured the real usefulness of a seat/bench was for shaving one’s legs, but it’s always nice to get some feedback.   

I don’t do tile work for a living, but I’ve done enough to know you fellas put a lot of work into those showers!  Our church hired out a couple bathroom remodels in the ministers house and it was interesting to see what choices the contractor made.  Of coarse, he went with the fastest possible solution to minimize labor and maximize profit.  I did mention it was a remodel for the MINISTER right  ;D

Anyways, they went with good quality fiberglass units (nice gel coats) and I was a bit surprised with the finished product.  I’m like tile myself, but the medium priced fiberglass units did end up making a couple very functional, and nice, bathrooms.  Of coarse they also replaced the copper with PEX to cut down on time and maximize their profit.  Of coarse the PEX leaked!
