Thankfully, the snow here has been melting the last two days.. all thats left is the drifts at this point.. keeping figers crossed those vanish soon as well!

I checked 2 outyards today and was pretty spooked by what I saw. Some of the hives were completely buried, but when I waded out to them I could see a small hole in the snow where the upper entrances would be, so I guess all is well. Even if the sun does come out there will be no solar gain on the tarpaper cause little of it can be seen.

Doesn't snow act as an insulator?  (or is that another internet hoax?)

According to Michael Palmer having the hives buried like that is a good thing.  Keeps them cold without being FRIGID.. no wind etc.

Snow is/can be an insulator. Being buried keeps 'em out of the wind

More "insulation" coming on Sunday, another foot and a half of the stuff.
I don't know about you Keith, but this is getting ridiculous. Where to put it?

I can take snow around Christmas, (one time) it brings back memories when i was a kid and family members were still alive., but it wears it's welcome out fast anymore, guess that's just part of getting old. Jack

The Walmart in the next community has a huge parking lot. It is about half the normal size now because a 10' high snow pile covers the other half.
Last year when it finally melted you should have seen all the stuff that showed up! :o

My dad went to look at a used blower last week.  he never even saw it.

Get this

the guy wouldn't sell it to us right then because it was buried in snow in his yard somewhere.

Papa

lol. Wait till spring. You can find a good deal on tractor blowers. Use ones are worn out. They need parts. My diesel tractor wont start at 0 degrees, I have to wait till it warms up to 15 degrees. We need a warm up. I'm sick of this winter already.
