Banner, What do you think?
« on: February 21, 2015, 03:31:05 pm »
Last week I ordered new business cards from Vista Print.  Never used them so I thought I would give them a shot.  A few days after I ordered I received a 33% off and free shipping from them so I thought I would get a banner made.  Looking at other bee related banners I wanted one that would catch your eye but not so crowded with info.  So, here is what I came up with.  Banner is 2-1/2' X 6'.  Picture was taken by a friend of mine checking out my bees.

JMHO but I think I would move the word "honey" to the end of "100% local, raw"
otherwise it just kind of leaves you hanging.

Makes it look like the name of your business is "Cree's Bees Honey"

Great pic though!
Bees are bees and do as they please!

I see what G3 is saying... good suggestion

and here's another suggestion to go on the table - Put the word HONEY right in the middle, so it would read like this:

         100% Local Raw

             HONEY

    Cree's Bees 765-586-1111

I personally dislike the word "raw". I have people ask me for raw honey, I ask them what they mean by raw, and 95% of the time they can't even answer me! There are so many different interpretations for the word it means next to nothing anymore. To me it means what comes out of the extractor, bee parts and all, that's raw. When I tell people that they turn up their noses. Next begins the discussion on "strained" and then "filtered". I don't even go there unless asked, and then I tell them it's strained to get the bee parts out and most are happy with that. On my website I have a picture of just that.

I would use the word natural or pure instead.

Oh Yeah, I remember this discussion from last year when many of us were bottling honey and making labels.

Because of the 'raw' explaination, I now use Pure. And the word Pure feels and sounds 'clean'

But you can use the word Pure if it has been pasteurized as well as Natural.

I don't think you can use the word Raw if it has been pasteurized. I think of Raw as being unheated.

Anyway, off topic. :D

I like the banner Crazy. How big will it be and where are you getting it done? Local?

Thanks Yankee. When people find out I raise bees they always ask if it's "raw" or that they hear eating "raw" honey is good for allergies. The reasons for Cree's Bees and Honey being larger and in front is to work on people's first sight. I want the words Cree's Bees stuck in their head. And of course the word honey. If you don't see what's written hopefully the picture of the bee with me sitting there with bottles of golden delicious will get you to put 2 and 2 together.

Yankee getting it made at Vista Prints. It's 2-1/2' X 6'.  Indoor/outdoor vinyl with grommets.

Perry, I really do like that graphic at the top of your page!   :eusa_clap:

The banner looks really good IMO.  There's no mistaking what the product is (except for the raw/pure thing).

i like the banner crazy 'crees bees honey' does stand out and a neat photo......
and it's simple, not overdone with info. phone # clearly visible.
like perry though, i am not a fan of the 'raw' thing unless it comes straight out of the extractor into the jar.
folks confuse this, all the 'terminology' so if it works for you, that's all that matters!

btw, please don't forget all of us when you get rich and famous, okay 'burt'?!.............. :D

IMO- raw is honey that was not been changed in any way. The bees don't fill cells with small bits of wax or bug parts. Extracting honey is just a process. Same as straining it. So, extracting or straining is still, like I said "IMO" is still raw. I'm not adding anything to it. And, if the word "raw" makes a customer stop buying the crap that's being sold in the store than I've helped my and everyone's bees that are here local.

IMO. You can strain it, filter it, beat it, add to it, subtract from it, or mix it with horse manure. Until you cook it, it is raw.

I say pure honey, straight from the hive.

crazy, we all have different 'definitions' of 'raw' honey. no the bees don't fill the cells with bits of wax or bug parts.
for myself, 'raw' honey means honey i took off the supers and extracted and did not filter, but that's just me, wax particles and bee parts and whatever else. i don't extract honey without filtering all the debris out.  when a customer asks for 'raw honey', i ask them their definition of raw honey........ :D
in short and typically they don't want bee parts and wax in their honey, but are confused as to terminology.

with that said, the national honey board describes 'raw' honey as this:

"Raw Honey
What is raw honey?
While there is no official U.S. federal definition of raw honey, the National Honey Board defines raw honey as “ honey as it exists in the beehive or as obtained by extraction, settling or straining without adding heat.”    This definition does not have any legal authority, but is provided  to help in the understanding of honey and honey terms.  The complete honey definitions document created by the National Honey Board is available here. The Definition of Honey"

link here:
National Honey Board FAQ

additional link:
Definition of Honey and Honey Products ~ Raw Honey
which says:
"Raw Honey: Honey as it exists in the beehive or as obtained by extraction,
settling or straining without adding heat
."

i disagree with what the national honey board describes it as, but one can't really argue with the national honey board's 'definition' of 'raw honey'.............. :D
