My sympathy.

I've only only got a couple of screws in R ankle. A slight consolation ------ my scrap value doubled.    ;D

OUCH! I feel for you. My wife had that same thing put in her ankle, along with 2 nlarge screws in the main bone Sept. 1, 2014. She is still limping heavily and walking very gently. Hope you heal quickly.

Was this a recent injury G3, or just a swap of metal?

Broke it 1-16-15, but could not get off the hill for several days due to the ice. I have a neighbor that is a orthopedic surgeon and he fixed me up 1-25-15. Broke the little bone in half down near the ankle.

Guess I should not mouth off to the wife near the top of the steps......lesson learned!

Grosses me out just looking at the x-ray.

The only broken "bone" I have ever had was my nose. Buddy and I were at a small town dance in Alberta, he got into it with one of the locals, fight was on, more locals jumped in so figured I had no choice but to try and help my buddy out. Long story made short, we both got dragged outside and had the boots put to us big time by I don't remember how many. I do remember it was right at the end that I took one and heard a "snap" and the floodgates opened. :D My nose was swollen up so bad the skin split and it took 7 stitches to pull it all back together.
Had to have septil reconstructive surgery a year later to allow easier breathing.
I'm still good lookin though. ;D

LOL @ Perry..    I never had my Septum repaired, its still deviated, and I ended up with a broken collar bone but didnt know that till the next day..
So... think about doing that today, and be thankful its out of the system now...    ;D  (well, mostly)

Got a fiberglass cast (splint) wrapped with ace bandages.

Tried the crutches but ice/snow will kill you. Using a walker I got from another neighbor, much much easier.

The only metal I have in my body is tooth fillings.  Wish I didn’t have them either.  If only God would have given us a THIRD chance on taking care of our teeth.  ;D

My question is how do you get through the airports anymore with metal in your body?  I suppose if it’s non ferrous metal (titanium), it probably doesn’t set off the metal detectors.

Hope you have a quick recovery G3.  You sure don't want to slip with the crutches and break something else!

For a man who doesn't spend too much time resting, it looks like this break is a major setback in your daily routine.  I hope the healing progresses fast and smoothly.  Your plate is most impressive.  Your neighbor must like you a lot---he did the repair with all his heart.
After reading Perry's story, I looked back at the enlarged X-ray and wouldn't you know it---my mind presented me with a picture of a face.  See if you can imagine like me:  I spotted the nose on the left side of the upper bone with the mouth on the bottom bone, just below the joint.  8)

Thanks Ef.
Yep this has really set me back, I need to be doing so many things around here (or so it seems). A neighbor is feeding the cows for me and that is about all I can ask. I have worn this couch plum out wallering around trying to find a comfortable spot. Been watching old westerns and war movies on youtube. A couple hundred channels on a satellite dish and nothing fit to watch. almost sick of the internet too!! I want outside!!

Thanks everybody for the well wishes also. I am just about to go nuts and have the wife on the ropes also. If I can make it out of this with out her killing me I will be OK LOL.

Got people calling for bees already and even though it is not time to start with them I just want to get to the hives and look at the entrances. This last long cold snap may have done them in. Already got a cut out lined up too.

This last long cold snap may have done them in.

For what it's worth, mine were out flying yesterday (and probably today, I didn't get to check).  But we have another cold snap coming in later in the week.  I hope there's not too much brood for them to cover.

Speedy recovery!  :)

Thanks for asking Z
Got the cast off on Monday 3-9-15.......what instant relief, I could feel the blood finally get to my toes. Pulled out the 9 staples and put some steri strips across the cut line. Wrapped lightly with an ace bandage, put shoe on and was told to exercise foot and start putting weight on it.

Tuesday and Wednesday I caught some kind of bug, temp over 100 and felt like death warmed over. Fever finally broke late Wednesday night and I feel great now.

The foot is feeling better and better, getting quite a bit of range of movement to it. Bruising is starting to go away, but still feels funny to put weight on it.

All in time I will be skipping through the clovers once again!
