Second inspection
« on: March 03, 2015, 04:00:38 pm »
Took another quick look in the hive Colony is building very quickly, they are raising a ton of drone brood, like I thought they would be also a number of Queen cups none of which were active added a third deep move some honey up into it and some empty frames down into second brood chamber. Girls were a bit testy today as my pitrevier found out. She is black and a bit of a bonehead, chased her out of the area several times and she ran back in with five or six of the girls riding her piggyback however she is fine never squealed or whined . She just rolled in the grass she's a smart girl.

Nice!

I am putting on my last med hive box today. So I have to make up some supers for honey time. Last year the girls had a hard time filling just one due to the drought. This season is a little different tho, wondering if I should make up two supers for each 3 hives?

you all are making me jealous.  I still have to trudge through 3 ft of snow to get to my hives. We are expecting more tonight btw :'( :'(

Jen,  Having one super too many per hive is much better than being short one.
I'm starting to think that the bees are keeping me...

Yes,
Never wrong to have too many supers , always wrong to have too few...

Papakeith,
When your nectar flows start, will be over a longer time frame and more intense. Tough to remember that shoveling your driveway and sidewalks lol.
