My first inspection of the year
« on: March 14, 2015, 11:31:16 pm »
While Perry is digging out, we got our spring three weeks early.  It was warm enough for an inspection today, so I checked all my hives.   Looks like all four hives came through the winter much stronger than last year and are set to boom.   The strongest hive has three frames of capped brood and three frames of eggs and larvae plenty of bees to cover about 12 frames.  The other 3 have very little capped brood, but several frames of eggs and young larvae.  My guess is that those three queens only started laying in earnest a few days ago.   It's pretty amazing to see them that strong when we still have snow in the shady spots.
My advice: worth price charged :)

Have four "Wayne's bees" hives at Beez Needz. Did a grafting class there today. Hives full of bees and brood, nectar and pollen coming in as if it were May. All hives very strong. Drone brood everywhere. Spring is here at Keith's place.
