picked up a nice swarm this morning
« on: May 10, 2015, 02:37:21 pm »
Had a little fun in the rain this morning.  We had a swarm that landed on a swing set leg south of town.  Once I got set up I told the young lady that lived there I can train bees to go into a box. I set the hive up in front of the swam. Scooped  a few bees into the entrance, whistled and point to the hive saying "march"  she was amazed as they headed into the hive.  She couldn't believe  the bees could be trained.  Anyhow I got a nice swarm out of the deal.  And the gal got a good story for show and tell.  a win win for all ;D

That puts me at 4 hives rebuilding back to 10 without spending any money on bees.  once I do some splits should hit that number and maybe a few more.  And I told my wife 3 years ago when I sold out I would have over 2 hives

Did you keep all your honey house gear?

Kept the extractor and enough hardware for about 10 hives.
