Rain, rain, go away
« on: May 12, 2015, 07:16:46 pm »
I just realized that this should probably be moved to another category. Sorry.

So, we've had a little rain. The image below is the rainfall totals. The little white circle is basically where we are. We have averaged around 10 inches within the last 7 days.  We have a very large lake (Texoma) close by. Six months ago, it was around 7 feet below normal level. We went on the lake 9 days ago and it was below normal by about 6 inches. As of today, it is 9 feet ABOVE normal. The national weather service forecast for the next 5 days is for another 10-12 inches. I may have to pass out the swim trunks to the bees.

Do you think it's neccessary to raise your beehives up a couple of feet?

Fortunately, we are on a hill. If we flood, I'm looking for an ark. There is a creek at the bottom, though, that has made it impossible for us to get to the main road in the past. Don't really want that to happen again.
