Thought the swarm season had calmed down enough to put my gear back in the shop from my truck. Went to a graduation party at the Welty Farm yesterday evening. Owner says hey, I think I have honey bees on the back of the barn. Sure enough! Her son said he was near the barn when they bees were in the air and clustered Saturday. It was warm and sunny Saturday but turned rainy and colder (low 60's). It is not supposed to warm up until Wednesday. I knew the bees needed to be collected quickly or there was a high probability they would all perish considering the rain and lack of resources. So, suited up and went to work on them early this morning. Took two hours to find the queen but smoked her out from the bottom and collected her in a queen clip. Will go back this evening to pick them up.
