caught my first swarm!

So yesterday I watched as one of my hives swarmed. I couldn't see where they landed at first, then after looking for awhile I found them and I successfully caught them! I am so excited! It was so easy to do and they were so nice to me! lol

Good job. I had a call Wed. on a swarm, until she said it had been there for a week.Yep, an open hive. Got it and the comb with eggs and brood.
It's late, but with feed, maybe we can get them through winter.

That's great Michelle! Swarms are really fun to work.
Iddee......That's amazing! Any pictures? Makes you wonder how long they look for a suitable place before they just settle in and stay put.

Ii remember my first swarm and wish I had it on video. A swarm was in a low bush so I cut the limb and was taking it to a nuc and of course this was too easy. I stumbled and the swarm hit the ground, I placed a nuc beside the swarm and on my hands and knees I picked thru the bees, found her and put her in the nuc and the rest is history. It was a great feeling and you will get this feeling with every swarm you catch.

Oh my, how exciting! Congratulations and I hope the hive that you put them into is successful. I can't wait for my first swarm!

It was too easy and I am sure the next time it happens it will be a major pain! They landed in a small hawthorne bush so I had to rush and put a deep together and I am so happy my husband was at home and he cut the branches and I plopped them into the hive! Around 9pm he went out and brought it to it's spot in the yard! They seem happy and I will check on them next week! Thanks for the comments! I was on such a high!
