Just wondering

Hi everyone,

My girls are hauling in yellow pollen in "hand over fist" for over a week now. I assume it's goldenrod or aster which is in full bloom. Wondering how others are faring this season?

same neill, best goldenrod, aster and all other fall bloom in 5 or 6 years........loving it!

Same!!  I also have Crimson clover and Buckwheat on about 12 acres so the bees are still pretty mellow and right locked into WORK mode..  "looks" like its going to be a good fall, hoping for a sprinkle in the next week or two to keep the flow rolling.  We have a LOT of goldenrod and other natural blooming plants right now.

Hey Lazy, i bought 100 lbs. of crimson clover seed, how much per acre do you sow? I have a seed spreader that fits on my 3 point and runs off the pto, after i spread it i will disc it in. Anything you can think i need to do besides inoculate the seed? The goldenrod is starting to bloom here and i have seen bees working it :o something we rarely ever see on the goldenrod type we have. I planted 15 lbs an acre and rolled it with a clodbuster. Disking would probably be better, but I have a nice stand of crimson..    Innoculate with Rhizobium.

charts I've seen say 15-20 lbs per acre on the crimson clover. hancock seed has decent prices & free shipping on some seed but not all. the crimson comes under the free shipping rates. I got the Dixie reseeding variety. it came up quick, bloomed, went to seed, & died. hasn't reseeded yet. the girls did work it when it bloomed.

Thanks for the reply. Today I noticed them working perilla and Carolina elephant's foot-two of the wildflowers in this area.
