i am not the only fool that has driven on the freeway with bees in a vehicle...............and been ticketed for it............. :D :D :D

story here from 'the missoulian' missoula montana:

Highway Patrol cites driver near Missoula with car full of bees

"A driver near Missoula created some buzz after being pulled over on Interstate 90 last week with thousands of bees in a sedan.

The Montana Highway Patrol received a call about noon May 22 from a motorist who saw another car that seemed to be filled with bees. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the vehicle was driving all over the road.

When troopers stopped the vehicle, they removed the driver from the red sedan. The driver told troopers that the “Russian honeybees” were “harmless,” according to the highway patrol report from the stop. There were five hives and thousands of bees inside the car.

Troopers contacted the state apiarist – Montana’s beekeeper-in-chief – who told them that having five hives riding shotgun was a “very unsafe” way to transport bees. However, the driver needed no permits to transport the bees through the state.

Troopers cited the driver for careless driving."

some of the comments were quite funny:

"Sounds like a sting operation. Just reading about it made me break out in hives."............ :D

"Who does this? Drives around with bees in the car? Bad enough we have to deal with people attached to their phone..now this."....... :D

"Cheap ticket. At least he didn’t write him up for having a buzz on."   ................... :D

"Punsters should be stung!"

"They were all up in their bees-ness"

"I assume the bee suit gave him away. "

"Aren't those troopers sweet!"

"That's The Buzz."

"Stung by the Fuzz!"............... :D

"Gotta love Montana drivers!!!"................. :D :D :D

lol, i am quite certain i am not the only 'einstein' to move bees in a vehicle..........and a very large pig as well, took up the entire back seat of a buick, and had to drive (i rode shotgun) with the front seat right up to the steering wheel and my knees and face up into the glove box for 80 some miles..........think i'd take the bees over the large pig...........chasing down, (amazing how fast big pigs can outrun you)  injecting it (which didn't really work),  and getting the pig in the backseat of the buick was quite the circus......... :D :D :D

for anyone who has not read my adventure hauling bees in a buick:

Open the window a bit the rush of moving air will keep the bees from flying so much and holding on.

River,

I have an old friend who hauled a hog home from the sale barn in the back seat of an old chevy. Said the only way to get rid of the smell was to sell it! :D

...................... :D :D :D
neil the pig was a pet pig, weighed well over 350 pounds, well fed bugger. it had a skin condition and some other malady the owner wanted to save the pig. it did smell, wasn't my vehicle. like a fool i volunteered to help her and her husband round it up and drive it from el paso, wisconsin to the university of minnesota in st. paul, minnesota. her husband ( a big guy and very fit) and i spent the morning chasing this pig down. when that failed, (the pig outran us) the local vet showed up with more needles.  we still had to chase the pig down to inject it............ :D  oh, one injection is supposed to work for this pig............lol, 3 or 4 injections later.......a tarp and 5 of us to get the pig in the back of the buick............NEVER AGAIN!!!!  actually this buick never smelled, just the pig i guess.........? it was the buick a friend of mine i volunteered to help move bees in  that had bee go spilled in it numerous times and her sick dogs that had urinated in it over many months......a hot day and no air conditioning, just craziness..........

ain't moving bees or pigs in buicks anymore!............. :D :D :D

well, i have moved bees in my jeep, but never on the interstate, learned my lesson............ :D :D :D

I moved my 6 hives 300 miles in my van this fall.  I rushed the loading a bit and one of the hives ended up not sealed at all.  The back of the cargo van is dark, the front is light.  Bees go to the light.  You get the picture.
I didn't get pulled over, but I did get some strange looks at a stop light. :)
My advice: worth price charged :)

Pistol, did you have something like this in mind?
I went to help my grandson move some hives early this summer----the back roads we travelled were bumpier than expected.
Fortunately there were no police anywhere near this spot, where we eventually had to stop.
