At $10.00 a piece every one should have a couple of these kicking around the house. If you only buy one the first time the wife sees / uses it, you will lose it. So buy 2 at least.

I have one of these for setting temp prob temperatures I needed one that could handle 2000 degree F. temperatures the prob sent with it was only good to 500 deg so another $130.00 was needed for temp probe that could handle temps to 2200 deg.

Not sure about the link Apis, it's showing a model worth $342.00
Well, I shut down the melter. I ended up with at least 9 1 kilo blocks, a 1 gallon pail of honey that has a pretty healthy wax cap on it, and a bunch of slurry or slumgum on the bottom.
I had a hard time differentiating when the honey stopped and the wax started, and I also had some gurry come out with the wax, but assume it will fall to the bottom of the blocks. I am also betting there is still a lot of wax in that slumgum. I think at the end of it all I will collect all the crap and junk and do 1 final lobster pot boil just to catch the tailings, no use firing up Bertha again for that small an amount.

I liked the way the guy with the big melter pored it into the bucket then pored it off the top to get the pure wax. The next time I do some I will poor the wax honey off often and let settle for a minute and then pour the liquid wax off the top back into the melter. Do it a few times and you should get rid of almost all the honey and be left with just wax. I would pore the wax into pails first also and then poor the wax off the top, It is impossible to poor it directly and not get some crud at the bottom of the block.
