My rain gauge has one and one-half inches at this moment. One hundred and twenty-five miles to the northeast, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has been flooded with three to five inches of rain and some serious tornadoes. There has been 13 reported deaths from the storm. It is currently freezing with a mixture of sleet and snow. The forecast is for up to three inches by morning. It will warm to 40 degrees F tomorrow and that will be the end of it.
This has been a wet year for our area. For the moment, the drought has been broken. Our lakes and rivers are full, and our shallow, limestone aquifers have fully recharged. In normal rainfall years, our area has plenty of water. The majority of Texas and the midwest is running out of water. As usual, our governing bodies are not going to address that problem until the rubber meets the road.
