New knee.
« on: March 23, 2016, 06:28:09 am »
Been dealing with Knee pain for a goodly while. Has gotten so bad now that no over the counter pain meds is totally cutting the pain. OK OK I will go have them looked at and get new knees if required. As I thought the Left one is the worst no cushion left at all and spurs developing. April 12th I go in the hospital for the one hour operation to fix that knee, a 3 day stay. If I had a different type of insurance it would be outpatient surgery at the doctors off and within 5 hours I would be walking across the parking lot to go home. Odd the insurance I have required a hospital stay since that cost so much these days.
Been told 8 weeks to get back close to normal use and about 12 weeks to fully recovery. A lot depends on how hard I work during physical therapy. In the mean I will have a new puppy being trained sissy style by Kare.

Planning on the right knee being done in Sept but may rethink that since hunting season starts on the 15th and I will have a new bird dog.

A couple face licks daily will ease the pain.   :)

Wishing you success and quick healing.

Hey, Alleyyooper.  You will probably wonder why you waited so long to have it done.  I had my left knee replaced last June.  I was grinding the bone down, so it was really bad.  Like you, nothing was alleviating the pain.  Since then, the right knee has been given a  rest now that the left is doing it's share of the load.  The right knee is feeling better.  You may find that is the case with you too.  Everyone is different though.
Good luck on your journey.  It takes a while, but you will be glad afterwards.  The relief from pain will be immediate.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Alleyyooper.  I know several people who have gone through joint replacement surgery and none of them has any regrets. I'm sure you won't either.

Decisions? Having it done in spring effecting bee season or in the fall interfering with hunting season. The bees are forgiving and hunting season is so short, plus you have a new dog to train.

Thank you all for the well wishes. Bee season, I should be well enough when the spring inspections start to do them.
Despite my going to 3 deeps and not taking any honey last year it isn't looking good so far.

Al:
Good luck with your knee surgery.  Both of my knees have been replaced.  Since your operation is one-hour, I suspect that your surgery is something less that total replacement, but whatever it is, please take the time and energy to perform all of the rehabilitation exercises.  Rehab is just as important as the surgery, and it is dependent on you.

Again good luck, and I hope and pray all is well with you.

Don

Add my name to the lengthy list of those wishing you well and a speedy recovery. On the upside, you will be able to post here more often during your recovery! :)

Again thanks for the well wishes. Don't know about doing more posting here, I don't intend to become a couch potato. May not be able to start my mowing job this year till mid may but have people lined up to take care of them for me till then. May not be able to go to the woods and cut wood but I do have a few chains hanging up I can sharpen. Hey may do some thing I have not been able to do for some time go fishing for a bit.
