  I have always loved scale motors. Had a part in making a few parts for one, but as far as I know it was never finished. Always wanted one, still do, but the wife sees it very differently, especially after she saw the cost involved!!!    :'(

I got all the equipment to machine and weld a minature motor. I have built some simple motors. I would really like to dive in and build a complex one but hobby parts setting on my machines dont pay the bills. Maybe someday :)

Man, that is super tiny!  Would have taken some major patience to turn all those parts out for sure.

If I had the know how/ equipment to make the cam and crank I'd attempt it.   That is one of those projects that will take years to finish. it would be done in spurts of enthusiasm..   get a lot done, then dont do anything for a month or three, then get a lot done!!! then nothing for a while...
   I WOULD have to go for the Nitromethane rather than diesel.. JUST, because Nitro Nito sounds so cool, and the smell would take me back to the cox engine Tether planes I flew as a kid.

   Is it me or did this guy slide those pistons in with no rings in the grooves?   Tolerances tight enough he didnt need them or? ? ?

Yep, no rings; same as the glow engines. lapped fit.   I did the RC planes thing for about 10 years. Did anyone figure out how the fuel is introduced and timed? cant see any indications of injectors or glow plugs.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  And no oil pan or radiator.

I did a little digging; it is not an internal combustion engine. It is powered by compressed air. 1200 and some hours

There is a pumps on each side of the flywheel loos like the run on cam feed fuel up into each cylinder firing order would have to be all one bank them the other or 3 side A 3 Side B back to the next 3 side A and the last 3 on side B the intake manifold on one side would be pressurized on oll cylinders and the valves would determine which cylinders would get the fuel and when while that bank was pressurized.

Apis did you cllck my link? The pump on the front is cooling pump but probably just for visual effect. It is a compressed air motor.

Having built a single cylinder hit and miss engine in the past I can appreciate the time that went into building this. I built mine in high school machine shop and had wore out old lathes and mills, not the small, high precision tooling needed for something like this. Someday I would like to get a small mill and lathe to get back into model building, such a fascinating and rewarding hobby.
