Have I got to do something special to activate the Search window on the Home page ?

I managed to do the search I wanted by using the tab beneath the forum logo.

That's the one I use as well, it works best.

I managed to do the search I wanted by using the tab beneath the forum logo.   

There is a 'quick search'  box on the top right above the donation button.  Just type in your term and hit [ENTER] key.   Or there is the 'advanced search' in the menu bar that lets you better define your search.
