Breakfast at Iddee's
« on: May 03, 2016, 06:15:37 am »
My first morning in NC, with breakfast at Iddee's.
Sausage (70% venison and 30% pork), grits, toast with homemade apple jelly scrambles eggs and coffee.
The grits were good, I followed Iddee's suggestion of putting honey on top.

The scrambled eggs and sausage look wonderful.  I have tasted Iddee's sausage.  It doesn't get any better.  Somewhere between Louisiana and Central Texas grits go away.  We don't eat grits in my country.  Not that they aren't good table fare, but because we love taters, hash browns and cottage cooked potatoes.  Cottage cooked potatoes, cut into about half spoon pieces are fried in a covered skillet with bell peppers, onions and either hatch or poblano peppers cut into small pieces.  They are seasoned with salt, black pepper and chili powder.  That's my favorite breakfast dish.  Now don't go get your knickers in a wad, as I like grits too.

The breakfast looks scrumptious.  I wish I had there for food and camaraderie.

No wonder Iddee has lived so long with cookin' like that! And Thank Goodness for that, or I would have thrown beekeeping out the window by now  :D

Definitely yard eggs and local honey. Home made jelly and sausage. Grocery stores see very little of us.  ;D

Not the best post to read pre breakfast!  Now I need to fix a proper breakfast.   Looks like you experienced true southern hospitality Perry.

WHAT Perry never brought you any of his Canadian honey? How about any mead that was made from his honey?
I recall his post about carry on luggage and the only way to transport honey or mead It would have to be as checked luggage.

Why would you carry honey to a beekeeper? No, I told him not to.

WHAT!!!   Honey from every locality has its own flavor. You might find that you want to move to Canada its so good.. or is that why you declined???

Sorry, I've been to Canada. I was very happy to come back home. 7.00 for a pack of cigs when they were 1.00 at home was enough for me.
