I had the wagon behind my garden tractor to break down an absconded hive & pull some supers. I kept the tractor running as I've been procrastinating about buying a new battery for it & it ran out of gas. walked up to the shed, grabbed some gas, fueled her up, & of course the battery was dead. one of the hives I was in was pretty cranky so I gave them about 45 minutes to spread out, fired the IH & went down to jump the Ingersoll without donning my bee suit. I took 20 or so stings within seconds so I retreated to get my suit. & Michelle-I've not completely zipped more times than I can count. USUALLY it's not an issue. I think I posted about this last year but I opened a nuc that was near African in behavior while not zipped. having 30 or more angry bees on your face is not something you'll forget. I took over 100 stings that morning, not counting the stingers in my suit! then I had to put spare suit on ( the suit I'd been wearing was laying  in the yard covered with bees ) & went back to close up the still open nuc & took more stings thru the suit.

Rober, that reminded me of the time i came out of my overalls, and  flannel shirt on the run over laced up boots in front of a family gathering (between 25 to 30 relitives :-[) naked to get away from bees inside my clothes many years ago. I still don't know how i got the overalls off over those boots on the run ??? Several are still alive and won't let me foreget it. Jack

i came out of my boots & jeans in the middle of west end blvd in nawlins' when i unknowingly stood on a fire ant hill. i'd just moved there & had never heard of them before. i would rather be stung by bees than these ants any day!!!!!! i was at at 400 stings when i quit counting. luckily they did not get above mid thigh.

rober,

Been there, done that! Fire ants have the ability to get all over you before the first one bites. Then they all bite!!!
