BEE SPACE, got handed a lesson today and learned the hard way about slight measurement mistakes in supers... 1/8 short on height + 1/8 short on rabbit depth on frame grove = not enough bee space when adding another super. The box was one of my first and knowing it was just a little off I went ahead and used it....
So today I try to add a medium on top of second brood box.
between brood boxes there is comb with honey in it since there is a little extra space between them and above the bottom of the medium frames almost touch the frames below. now either I shim the top for the medium super and struggle with the bees burr combing the boxes together or replace the 2nd brood box and swap frames.
I will swap boxes tomorrow since that is the correct way and each new addition to the pile will further my issue if I don't, but lesson learned and I am posting this for others new to making their own woodenware to pay close attention to even small mistakes in measurement. Size does matter
as they say "back to the ol' drawing board"
