opossum in the house
« on: September 01, 2016, 08:55:30 am »
So ole Rat gets up to get theo a cookie at 11  last night and finds a opossum setting on the kitchen counter by theos cookie jar. Big tough guy Theo just looked at him and then me like dad! What is this?  Did we get a new cat? . After refusing to leave when asked the little guy hissed and got defensive.   At that point in his life he made his second mistake that night I told the wife to go get my 22 she brings a 12 gauge shotgun.  After going and getting the rifle the little guy stepped on a rainbow and left this world.  Only thing we can figure is we are remodeling our bathroom and have the floor and ceiling out.   Either he came in through the basement or the attic.  Either way he learned not to mess with a dogs cookies

Reminds me of the time a skunk pushed open the screened garden door and came into the house we were renting. Slept inside all day and wandered back out at dusk.

Why I don't have a doggie door, or leave an opening uncovered.

Oh! So reminds me of Dunkel's story about his basement full of bees and a skunk. I really wish he would post that again.

Agreed Rrat! My dog comes first!

Many moons ago I had an outdoor laundry and furnace room. My bride is out there doing laundry and I hear a scream. I met her as she came running in the house babbling about a huge snake under the dryer. I asked her to describe the color and she says, "White!"

I'm thinking a white snake? Got a flashlight and pulled out the dryer and there was a rather large opossum. His tail had come out from under and brushed her bare foot! :D

My sister in laws house is raised up off the ground about 2 feet. A possum had taken up residence under her house and she asked me to come over and get it out. I spotted it under the house and shot it with a shotgun. Looking back, I guess I should have let the old sis in law know that I was there and what I was going to do. She screamed and wet her pants and dropped a pot full of turnips in the kitchen. That was years ago and she's still holding a grudge.

Back in the early 80's down in Louisiana, I was working offshore 14/7 on and off (days) so I was renting a room from a friend in a mobile home. He had these huge rat traps under the trailer, said that he had gotten rid of them. He loved his medicinal herbs I didn't cause I worked offshore.  I pulled in the driveway after 14 days to see the kitchen sink , cabinet doors , broken dishes, toaster an microwave in the yard, l said what in the world happened. Ha ha this was what he told me. After going to bed the night before after partaking some of his herbs, he heard something in the kitchen got up grabs double barrel shotgun walks in living room flips on lights, well he wasn't the only one who liked herbs so did these large rats ( after the seeds) the rats had got to his stash in the kitchen cabinets and had about 5 lbs. scattered all over the counter , his first reaction was to shoot ha ha let me tell you #4 duck # 1 buck shot will do some damage.
I still laugh at that to this day.
