Distance between hives?

So I was thinking about building a hive stand. Just wondering how far between the hive is a good space to have room to work them . What works good for you guys?

Room to comfortably lay the telescoping cover beside the hive and the top super cross ways of it. Much easier than bending to the ground to retrieve a 60 pound super.

Your lid is 2 foot, and your super is 20 inches. 2 foot doesn't leave much finger room.

I've never measured it. Just set two boxes on a bench and place a super between them. See what is comfortable for you.

No problems here and will likely have 3 on each eventually according to bee math...

I put the lid on the ground, then stack the boxes at an angle on the lid, so for me about an INCH is sufficient between hives.   But then my lids NOW cover 4 hives on a pallet of 4 hives, So everything depends on what YOU want and find comfortable!!!!!!

Ants and more ants and anything edible that hits the top 2 inches of soil is instantly mobbed, had a tree branch get real close once and they festooned to the hive. Living bridge..... Keep mineral oil in them. That is part of why I think perhaps we do not see SHB here, that and soil temps around 130F in summer.

Thirty inches would be nice. But another hive or nuc would end up there with, like nugget said.

green bee,
i don't have hive stands, my hives are all on pallets on a concrete base.  i like to leave enough room between hives to get around them, work them comfortably in all seasons, and place equipment needed next to them and pull supers off in the fall.  give yourself as much as you can spare, you won't regret it.
