Other Hobbies?

Beekeeping brought us all here but I know I have other things I do in my free time. What else do you do for fun?

I ride bikes. Mountain bikes or road bikes, doesn't matter. I used to do a lot of racing when I was in high school. Was a national caliber junior level cyclist an came close to the podium in national championships on two occasions. Kind of got out of it when I was in college and got back into riding on a recreational level after I started working. Thinking about doing the mountain bike race series around here this summer just so I have a goal and keeps me from getting too fat and keeps me training for something. Want to do a 24-hour race sometime in the next few years just to say I've done it.

I also do a lot of gardening, mostly vegetables but do put flowers out to attract bees to the garden. Zinnias are easy to grow and attract lots of bees and butterflies and provide and endless steam of cut flowers to put in the house and make momma happy.

I put motorcycles and stereo equipment on the back burner for a while. Roads around here are too flat and straight for motorcycles to be much fun. I was building quite a bit of vacuum tube and some solid state stereo equipment (audiophile quality stuff) but vacuum tubes, turntables, and kids in the same space don't get along. It all got boxed up and stored when they broke a mercury vapor rectifier tube when it was hot.

I like to garden (veggies) with my wife.
The only other thing I really like to do is whenever we are anywhere near a go-cart place, we will drive out of our way to go there. My son and I have an ongoing gig where he tries to show me how it's done.
The best place hands down. we have found so far is this indoor track in Halifax. Electric powered but they can go!! You have to wear a face shield as the rubber that peals off the tires is incredible. Expensive as all get out at $0 for 8 minutes, but what an 8 minutes!!

i enjoy most yard projects! Love gardening, some crafts, canning, I work with brownie girl scouts, and am raising three gorgious kiddos! For fun i enjoy the company of good friends(getting harder and harder to find). Nothing more fun then a few drinks and kareoke with the bestie. Really a home body but time is spent making it the best for hubby and kids. sew a little but no knitting or crochet.

In my spare time, aside from beekeeping, I like hydroponic gardening, duck hunting and shark fishing.

Seems like gardening is an "alternate hobby of choice"...I help my wife, she's the gardener. I do some woodworking (did a lot more when younger). Been remodeling the house, very slowly, which may be why there's not a whole lot of other "hobbies". I do like trying different wines.

I also bike in my spare time ! I did my first mountain bike race this year at Bellayre Ski resort in NY. About 1000 ft in elevation changes.. I finished 2nd place in my class!  We have some amazing single tracks here in the Catskill mountains. My family also races supermoto ( dirtbikes on slicks) 80% asphalt 20% moto cross track section. My husband races at a professional level and participated in AMA events before their sport callapse. I race very competitively and my son just raced his first season at 3 1/2 years old. Yes this is a family sport  I also garden, can, crochet as other hobbies. We are quite unique

I've got a weather station and website (http://www.wattsbarweather.net), but once that was up and running, it's pretty much set-it-and-forget-it.  For the past few years, I've averaged working over 1,000 hours overtime a year.     I'm going to try to reduce that number this year and spend more time in the garden and maybe even being able to make some music.  I've got a room set up for that, I just never have time to mess with it.

Growing produce, (gardening) beekeeping for the pleasure of it, and selling honey from it at the local farmers market. I can (most of the time) make enough  profit from the sales to pay the taxes on the farm and pay for the bee supplies and seed for the coming year. I won't get rich money wise doing this, but selling at the local farmers market keeps me in touch with old friends and meeting new people moving into our small town area.( making new friends means more to me than money) People ask me all the time,why i work so hard at my age, i tell them i don't look at as work, but it's just something to do that i love. Jeeze, where to start? (And not write a book)

  Used to do a lot of racing.. Migrated from Roundy round to drag racing and eventually to Mud runs as the sport went from skill to money. Mud runs allowed me to use the knowledge to win as opposed to throwing money at the hobby.  My 2800 dollar truck beat dozens of trucks with over 20 grand in them;

  I had my own gunsmithing business, building custom rifles and handguns. I worked at a Performance shop for many years building cars and engines..   Made vast amounts of money, but working for Chevrolet in the day and the performance shop at night was too hard on me. at the dealership by 7:30, get off work by 5;00 PM, go home, see wife and kids, go to the performance shop, work till 1 or 2:00 AM, go home, shower, sleep, be at the dealership by 7:30 again.
   I flipped houses when the economy was good, more work than fun. Rebuilt a few harleys and sold them. Rebuilt a few cars and trucks and sold them... Rebuilt a few old tractors and sold SOME of them.
   I still build engines once in a while. I still reload and shoot long range with my all original Springfield built M1 Garand..  Trap and skeet once in a while as well. My wife and I have always had horses, we like to ride, but as age creeps up on us getting dropped off a horse is less appealing.  We keep a large garden, chickens and plan on a pig pen this spring.  Were planning grapes, a small Vineyard. She has her candle shop, and I have my wood shop to go along with the bees.
   Fixing up the yard/property seems to be my major duty the last couple years after building the new house. Still a lot to do to get the barn and machine shed where we want them.
   Caring for the bees, fixing up the property, Gardening/canning, Horseback riding, and FISHING!!!  Are my current hobbies, with a 69 Chevy truck to eventually restore, and have an 800 HP Big block out of a pulling truck to rebuild sometime this summer..  OH! Also have a 670 MiniMo in the shop to overhaul....

I'd like to head out east to MTB sometime, ridden on road out there a few times.

Beekeeping and gardening seem to go hand in hand. It's interesting to see that in one subset of people (beekeepers for example) a good portion have the same other interests. The cycling forums I go to have a lot of people that do a lot of camping and other outdoors/adventure activities and a lot of them are into audio gear as well.

Then you need to learn to make fiddles!  My dad makes and plays fiddles.

Impressive!  I have no woodworking skills.  I am so envious when I see postings from you guys that make honey houses, wooden ware, remodel your houses, etc.  And honestly, the last thing I need is another hobby.  Beekeeping has so many facets.  If you think about all the ways to utilize beeswax, propolis, honey, apitherapy and so on, you can stay really busy.
