Mites on bottom board in winter

Happy New Year all! I was out snooping around my hive today to see how things were going. When I pulled the bottom board to take a look, I noticed there were some dead mites. I treated in the fall with MAQS. Can anyone provide any insight if it is normal to see dead mites on the bottom board during the winter?  Thanks

Those are probably the dead mites from your treatment, I wouldn't get too worried about it.

Another bit of useless info.
When mites were moving across this country into my area, a test to see if they've arrived was to collect the winter floor debris and use an oil flotation technique to see the mites (and Braula).

Braula---haven't heard their name mentioned in a long time.  Around here, since people have been treating against Varroa, the Braula seem to have more or less disappeared as a side benefit.

This thread got me thinking and today with high 60s looked at some hives all looked good. Did a mite test and count made me uneasy. Started treating. Had a good treatment plan late October. Beekeeps be advised.

Hey I hope no one puts me in a elite group of people I can't live up to.  Usually, I remain quiet on the hard questions.    I only chimed in because the forum seems unusually quiet as of late.

Hey B12. A quick check around and you will find that almost all forums are quiet right now. It is fairly typical with ebbs and flows throughout the season. As weather starts to improve (hard to hear when I understand you are facing an ice storm in the next 24 hrs.), people start getting itchy about the upcoming season and things pick up.
And then there are folks like me who blab on about everything.
