took some photos of the super moon in november (?) have a  fancy camera still trying to learn all the functions. pix are nothing like your avatar.....the super moon was pretty cool. here are the very amateur pix i took:  (seems cameras are getting smarter than me.......... ...........and smart phones...........and i don't even own one........... )

Nice pics!

The thing I had to learn is the moon is really bright.  Remember you are taking a picture of the sun's reflection.

Use a faster shutter speed and/or a smaller ( larger #) f-stop to get better definition. 

Then crop the picture once you've got it on your computer to make folk think you have a gi-nourmous lens.

the camera is a canon g16, (a bridge camera) not a point and shoot but not a big thing with a long telephoto lens.
i like it, but the learning curve with specialty shots have been great.  i had the camera on a tripod, and tried a couple different setting for night shots.  i realized i had something mixed up later on (don't ask me now).......but despite my learning curve the shots sorta turned out okay. 

full moon tonight........it is pretty here, but i am not going out tonight.....it's about 10 below zero here, not sure what the windchill factor is.  NO PRACTICING TONIGHT!.................

hmm, i was looking at a map, you are not far from san antonio or corpus christi?  or even galveston?

i have never been to san antonio, galveston, and once very long ago corpus christi..........would like to take a visit to san antonio, corpus christi.

wm, what's the average temp there in january?  day and night?

Average temps: 63 for the high, 44 for the low.

Yesterday we had a high of 75, I think.  Today our high is around 60.  We are far enough South that cold fronts blow through quickly and then quickly retreat.  We get a blue norther, dropping us 40 degrees within two hours, but then the temps climb back up.

I was living in Aransas Pass (just north of Corpus, and had offices in both Rockport and Corpus Christi until I moved to Victoria in 2013.  The temps are a bit warmer in Corpus, but those three cities are also closer to the coast.  We had constant seabreeze that modified the temperatures abit.  Victoria is farther inland, and the seabreeze doesn't do as much for us.  My home in Aransas Pass was less than a mile from the harbor.  I could see the water from my office in Rockport.

I miss the breeze.  I don't miss paying an extra $5,000 tp $10,000 a year for windstorm insurance.  The office was about 6' above sea level, and the home was 12'.  Hurricanes were a constant worry.

Victoria is about two hours from Corpus, two hours from San Antonio, two hours from Austin, and two hours from Houston.  Galveston is further away.

Anyway, come on down!  We have a spare bedroom, and I've got a bit of time to spend as tour guide.

thanks for the info and the offer, i appreciate it.  always looking for new places to visit for a few days to get out of here during winter months; mostly january through early march.  we try to explore someplace we haven't been. 

also, on the look out for next january for about 16-17 others to get out of here for about 4-5 days; an annual 'business' trip for the shareholders and spouses of my husbands law firm.

you have room for 16 people?...............
