Right on!  I think Josh or I, maybe both, are going to do something similar at our local care center (elderly folks).  Knock 'em dead brother!  Ted

Great!  Go educate those folks.  What aspect are you going to focus on or are you just going to talk about beekeeping and the equipment?  I wouldn't know where to begin.

Cool rober and I am amazed at how many folks are instantly curious when they find out we keep bees. More education means more beekeepers...
Cheers, Bill

i'm amazed that when someone finds that i'm a beekeeper that I'm told " my dad, uncle, granddad, neighbor, etc" used to keep bees. most think it's kinda' cool & some think i'm friggin' nuts.( actually I'm definitely not right in the head ). colony collapse usually comes up & I try to explain the problems caused by varrora & then I tell folks what to plant to help bees. I think a lot of folks have followed thru with plantings. I know I got at least 3 people to fire chemlawn!  library is telling me my talk might be standing room only. I guess the next step will be a reality show.

Sweeet!  A printed list of nectar and pollen producing plants are always great to have for those that know they will NEVER keep bees, but want to do something to help. (Pesticide free, of course.)
Also, free cooking with honey brochures are available at http://www.nhbcatalog.com/ in limited quantities.  For a small fee you can get larger quantities.
Honey for tasting is always a favorite.  Perhaps a sample of crummy store brand to compare your honey to?
You didn't ask for suggestions.  I hope you don't mind.

100 Plants to Feed the Bees
It's a paperback, written by the Xerces Society, very easy to read and understand. This was just released last fall.  It is also $11.49.  At this price, it sounds a lot more friendly than Garden Plants for Honey Bees by Peter Lindtner.  The cheapest I have seen Lindtner's book is $39.00.

This website has a nice reference list of things people can do in their own yard.  https://www.bee-friendlier.com/get-involved/#Plant-Wildflowers

Caveat:  By redeeming codes of Cascadian Farms labels, 25 cents per code will be donated to either planting wildflowers or to U of Minn research which is Marla Spivak's research program.
