OAV wands?????
« on: March 02, 2017, 12:31:05 pm »
Wasn't sure where to put this mods.... My question is what in your all's opinion is the best OAV wand to purchase for longevity and speed of vaporization? I have been through the 2 phases of "look I made one" and "why pay more when I can use one with a glow plug for 50.00" both duds and not efficient at all....

There are a couple options out there for 160.00 or so, but are they worth the $$ in your opinions?

I am leaning towards the Varrox model currently. Thanks in advance....
Cheers, Bill

I had a Varrox and had absolutely no regrets. In my opinion it was the Cadillac of wand vapourizers. This thing was so solid it could be used as a weapon if you wanted to and you probably wouldn't hurt it.
I just sold it and the only reason I did so was because I needed something quicker so will bump up to a $650 vapourizer/blower.

I had the Heilyser first.  It was okay.  The Varrox is on the next level in design, construction and performance.  Go with the varrox and you won't be disappointed.

I do think the next gen vaporizer will be similar to those discussed in these forums last week that produce a constant emission of vapor from a portable heat source.  JMO

If your looking for simple Kelly has a model 9030 for $110. It has a burn timer and auto shutoff. Fill it start it forget it clean it. Hope to upgrade to something better this year or next. The one Perry spoke of looks real good if you have a inverter and a continuous 12 power source like a vehicle. Works off 110 volts AC.

I've had a Varrox for a couple of years and have had no issues with it. I have a friend that bought a cheap one of eBay and it's junk. He wishes now he bought a Varrox. In the case, you get what you pay for.

I run two Varrox and treat a lot of hives. One is a few years older than the other and both work very well.

I'm sure you have stated it before, and it is probably listed on your website as well,  but being honest here, I'm too lazy to look right now :P

How long does it take you to treat a hive from start to finish?

LOL... I think it took me four hours to do 80 hives.
The time to treat this spring is approaching, I will see if I can get a time per hive/all hives.
Running two wands it takes me somewhere between three and four minutes per hive.. provided I don't get a phone call or interrupted etc. I can actually manage four wands. by the time I have run through the 4th it is time to pull the first and start over, but the conflict of cables everywhere and not being able to reach far enough etc I have found that two is fine for how fast/hard I want to work.
