This gets to the very cool part.
I had a response from Robo after my 1st experiences with swarms. He gave me a great deal of advice and Ted gave me an amazing amount of encouragement to keep moving forward. Thanks to both of them. I feel fortunate to have guys like that with so much more experience giving me advice. If you read the rest of this post ,you should to.
The swarm from Nuc/10 frame is up in a maple tree 40 feet up. Way out on a limb but still right in my yard.
I went and got a role of 40 pound fishing line. Got a 12 OZ pyramid fishing weight. Went into 2 of my hives to get drawn out comb( I do not have much so had to rob) Put a screw into the to top of frame. Tied line to the screw. Threw the weight over limb. Took 6 or 8 trys to get it right on cluster but I got it. Raised the frame all the way up to the cluster and tied it of for about 45 min.
Got a Nuc box and went and robbed honey from another hive. Lowered the frame back down full of bees and put in nuc. Pulled it back up 2 more times to get remainder of bees on frame and down into nuc box..
Very cool Robo. It worked like a charm.
That's the kind of info a rookie can get from this sight. That is amazing!!!! Thank you
