Super aggressive hive

Established hive all of a sudden super aggressive as in getting dive bombed 70 yards away.  Even the Bluejays avoid it.  It was queen right last week with lots of eggs and larvae so I am not sure what's up.  Thoughts?

That happened to us a few weeks back.  If the hive has no apparent problems, I'd give it a week or two.  Ted

It could be that something is bothering it at night, skunk, racoons?

I will ask the owner tomorrow.  There are 3 other hives near by with no issues.

Had a hive one time that was sitting on a loose tree root, when the wind would blow all day the hive was "rocked" and the bees were naturally more aggressive than the rest. Took a while to figure that one out.

Look for signs of a skunk scratching on the front of the hive.

Are they by chance in a field where cows or horses can get around them and scratch themselves?

   Good suggestions.  There are a lot of reasons a hive may be aggressive, as mentioned above, external stimulus being one fo those reasons... They may also have an internal problem, disease or mites.   Beyond that, they may JUST be aggressive and the queen needs replaced with a new one.
