You got to love ship lap running at a 45* angle. You need to cut twice as many boards to open up a wall cavity. We don't get nearly as many colonies in walls up here in Canada as the wall cavity's are filled with insulation. Bees can remove the insulation but tend to avoid starting a colony in an insulation filled wall. When we find colonies in walls they are in uninsulated sheds or old houses that used shavings for insulation and it has settled leaving empty spaces at the top.
