Good Reading
« on: February 02, 2014, 01:22:34 am »

I have honestly never heard of Kirk Webster, but stumbled on his site looking for...  well, just looking. I am always looking for information. something to read, or watch that I have not already seen or read.
   I thoroughly enjoyed reading his posts, the Diary etc..  and thought I would drop a link for anyone else to read. He runs a treatment free apiary and explains much of what he went through to get there.   Like I said, it was quite enjoyable and filled with good information.  He says several things I have personally thought myself, and even perfectly justifies some of my own ideas that I fear to state openly because I have NOTHING to back up said theories and thoughts..  One such thought I have had for some time, is about the problems bees are having. While he doesn't make the statement himself, he agrees with someone who does,

 Dee Lusby;
Her assertion that the solution to our honeybee problems is one third genetic, one third management, and one third environmental is, in my experience, completely bulletproof.

   So if you need some good reading that may make your brain work a bit, check out his sight.   Nothing new in some time, but whats there is enlightening and enjoyable.  with some drama at the end if you wish to read about it.

   Enjoy!
   Scott

I have never met Kirk.  As far as I know he has a good reputation.  Some of his 'friends' have suggest to me that his endeavors at using no treatment for varroa has presented some major hurdles for Kirk.  That is to say he has encountered some major set backs recently.   Given what he is trying to do I suspect think these kinds of set back are predictable.

In private conversation with others (on other bee keeping web sites) the tendency of his friends and the way they defend Kirk I suspect says quite a bit about Kirk himself.
